Art and Craft is fun fun bunch of activities for kids and adults, they allow you to get on your creative side and create something that you are proud of. In case of a child arts and crafts aren’t just a fun activity, they are a platform to showcase their creativity and a platform to express their emotions. Hence it becomes important for you as a parent to arrange for some fun arts and crafts activities for your kids.
It becomes hard to do that without knowing where to start or having any idea about art and craft other than without being an artist yourself. So, we came up with some fun art and craft activities for kids to let loose of their creative sides: –
1. Origami
Origami has been seen plenty of times on the big screen, By Michael Scofield on Prison Break or recently by The Professor on Money Heist. The film industry might make it seem like Origami is the criminals craft but if you can get past that, there’s a lot of fun to be had.
Origami only requires one pre-requisite origami paper. This paper if you hadn’t guessed it made especially for origami. It can be found at any stationery or arts and crafts store near you or on amazon.
Once you have that ready you need to decide what you want to make out of origami. Your first project could be anything from building a traditional crane seen many times on the big screen to a paper boat. There is a whole plethora of YouTube videos about creating anything with origami paper, even whole channels dedicated to origami.
2. Textile Crafts
Textile Crafts involve the use of needles. These needles can be a hazard if not used carefully, hence Textile Crafts aren’t recommended for younger kids. This craft include the likes of hand-woven flowers and even a complete scenery if you put the time and effort .
Textile Crafts require a little more preparation in the form of a cloth you can use as a canvas, a needle and a few different kinds of threads to use to complete your beautiful project. These can be bought at any textile store in town or Amazon.
Once you get it all together, you’re ready to take off and start creating your scenery and wear it on your T-shirt or your bag. And while you’re at it you might as well teach them how to sew a button back on a T-shirt, they will thank you for it.
3. Pot Painting
Pot Painting is a mixture between painting and decorating while being fun and rewarding at the same time. It can become messy at times so keep a safe distance from clothes you or your child likes would be a good idea.
Pot Painting requires a pot and painting supplies like brushes and different kinds and colours of paint. The pot can be a plastic or clay pot depending on the kind you prefer.
Once you get the pot and the painting supplies, it’s time to head onto the land of creativity and let loose, creating master pieces one after another. And, if you don’t like a design, you can certainly wash it off and start from scratch. You could even make a shelf full of hand designed pots to display your child inner Picasso.
4. Oil Paintings
It is hard to argue against the oil painting technique because it has been used by several famous artists to succeed. Being used by the likes of Leonardo Da Vinci, Michelangelo Buonarotti, and Rembrandt van Rijn to name a few.
All you need is a few painting supplies like different colours of paint and a palette. You can get all these at your local arts and crafts store or Amazon.
Once you get everything in order, you can start painting your heart out. Turning yourself into the next Leonardo Da Vinci in the process. You could put these oil paintings up on walls around the house to award recognition to the young artist.
4. Line Drawing
Line Drawing is a form of drawing which uses a black and white approach. In the sense that these drawings are almost always in black and white. It includes a wide range of art from a pattern of lines going a certain way to a eomplete portrait.
All you need is a piece of paper and a pencil. As you advance you can get all the different types of pencils and papers in the world.
Line Drawing can become complex and difficult at first so we recommened hopping up on YouTube first and searching up on Line Drawing before you start your childs journey into Line Drawing.
